Physiotherapy assesses and treats musculoskeletal injury with the goal of restoring and maintaining as much physical ability as possible. Our physiotherapy services involve the assessment and treatment of your musculoskeletal injury in order to improve and maintain your functional level and physical abilities.

Physiotherapists at Citadel Physiotherapy in Halifax and Dartmouth are trained to provide an initial assessment and diagnosis and will develop a treatment plan specific to the client’s injury that is exercise-based and hands-on.

Our Physiotherapists utilize various treatment techniques while treating their clients. These include manual therapy, mobilization, and manipulations, acupuncture, electrical modalities such as ultrasound, light therapy, Interferential Current Therapy, TENS, shockwave therapy. Exercise and injury-specific education are also utilized extensively.

It is often recommended as an ongoing treatment, much like you would do so with your dentist or family doctor.

Tim graduated from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2021. Since graduating, Tim has been working in a multi-disciplinary clinic for the last 3 years continuing to improve his techniques. During his time, as a massage therapist, he has treated a variety of patients with different conditions such as whiplash, concussion, carpal tunnel, sciatica, stroke and postural dysfunctions. He has been in good standings with NHPC for the past 3 years.

Tim utilises many techniques during his massage therapy sessions including deep tissue massage, trigger point release, myofascial release and myoskeletal techniques. He also uses cupping in his practice as well.

When not working, Tim enjoys running, hiking, lifting weights and martial arts. He has competed in Tae Kwon Do for 11 years, participated in the Blue Nose Half Marathon and has been training in Muay Thai for the past 3 years.

Originally from Halifax, Nova-Scotia, Sarah completed her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Dalhousie University in 2017. With a strong passion for the human body and helping people, she then pursued her Master of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa in 2020. Sarah is happy to provide services in English and French.

Since her childhood, Sarah has been part of multiple competitive sport’s teams including track & field, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. For a big part of her life, Sarah practiced Martial Arts and holds a 1st degree black belt in Karate. Through such involvement, she gained a well-rounded understanding of human movement and mechanisms of injuries in a variety of different settings.

Sarah is eager to help and empower patients to reach their goals through education, tailored exercise, and manual therapy. Sarah is keen on continuing her education to further her professional development – she has taken post-graduate courses in manual & manipulative therapy as well as courses in the prevention & treatment of running injuries.

Outside of the clinic, Sarah enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, running, playing basketball and volleyball, and exploring local coffee shops.

Jessica is returning from Maternity leave on August 6th! Jessica is a graduate from Dalhousie University with a BSc in Kinesiology and MSc in Physiotherapy with a certificate in Disability Management. Prior to completing her studies, Jessica worked with the Canadian Armed Forces as a fitness instructor where she discovered her passion for working with individuals to achieve optimal performance at work, sport and recreational activity.

Jessica has completed further training in manual and manipulative therapy, functional dry needling, functional movement screening and the prevention of running injuries. She has experience working with a variety of sports teams and is currently the team therapist for Halifax West Hockey and Dunbrack senior men’s soccer.

Jessica’s hobbies include running, biking, swimming, yoga and hiking. She has completed half-marathons and triathlons, and in her spare time, enjoys teaching yoga. With a special interest in treating sport and running injuries and a strong background in fitness, she believes in an active approach to rehabilitation.
